Houston, February 3, 2012 --- Blausen Medical Communications, developer and owner of the world's largest 3D medical animations library, will help build awareness of and support for American Heart Month by featuring three heart-related Blausen animations on the Blausen Group Facebook page during February. The animations, How the Heart Works, Congestive Heart Failure and Angioplasty, are derived from the Blausen library and show how the heart functions, what occurs during heart failure, and a specialized preventative treatment to prevent further heart problems.
Sponsored by the American Heart Association, the American Heart Month campaign began in February 2004 and has grown into a national movement as more women, men, celebrities, healthcare professionals and politicians have joined movement to promote education about heart disease. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), while heart disease and stroke kill one in every 3.7 men, one in 2.4 women lose their lives to heart disease and stroke ? making those the number one and three killers of women. By way of comparison, breast cancer kills one in 29 women.
Founder and CEO of Houston-based Blausen, Bruce Blausen, said, "Heart disease and stroke are the number one and three killers of women. These are comparatively lesser known threats to women's health, compared to breast cancer and other diseases. By including some of our relevant heart-related animations on our Blausen Group Facebook page, we hope to make more people aware and encourage them to participate in the American Heart Month Go Red For Women activities."

Three Web Health Awards, Two eHealth Leadership Awards and an ABBY win reflect continuing recognition of Blausen content, web and mobile applications.
Houston, January 20, 2012 --- 2011 was a record-setting year for Blausen Medical Communications, developer and owner of the world’s largest library of 3D medical animations. The Company won six major international medical communications awards, one more than its previous yearly high. The awards included three Web Health Awards, two zeHealth Leadership Awards and the prestigious ABBY Award.
The annual Web Health Awards program recognizes the nation's best digital health communication resources and providers. Blausen Human Atlas iPad and iPhone apps were recognized among more than 500 entries and judged by a panel of distinguished experts in digital health media.
The eHealthcare Leadership Awards program reviews the very best websites of healthcare organizations (both large and small), online health companies, pharmaceutical/medical equipment firms, suppliers and business improvement initiatives. The Blausen awards recognized the Company’s excellence in both web use and mobile communication apps.
The Adaptive Business Leaders (ABL) Organization recognized Blausen Medical and its Human Atlas iPhone and iPad apps, as one of only four international winners of the Organization's 2011 ABBY Awards. The ABBY’s honor companies which have developed ways to lower the cost of providing quality healthcare through medical or information technologies, or innovative approaches to the delivery of healthcare.
"The year 2011 was almost an embarrassment of riches in the number and quality of awards we won for our content, applications and, in the case of the ABBY, the actual cost saving benefits we deliver," said Bruce Blausen, Founder and CEO of Houston-based Blausen. "While we are not in this for the awards, it is nice to see the industry professionals judging these events recognize our Blausen efforts. We are, however, not resting on these laurels, but actually have several major development initiatives coming out this year, which I believe will have major impact in healthcare and scientific education categories."

Houston, January 6, 2012 --- Recognizing January as National Glaucoma Awareness Month, Blausen Medical Communications, developer and owner of the world's largest library of 3D medical animations, is featuring two glaucoma-related animations on its Blausen Group Facebook page during the month. The two animations, Glaucoma and Glaucoma Drugs, are derived from the Blausen library. They explain the general anatomy of the eye, how glaucoma occurs, and what medication may be used to treat this condition.
National Glaucoma Awareness Month is supported directly by the Glaucoma Research Foundation, a national non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for glaucoma. Founded in 1978 in San Francisco, the Foundation funds glaucoma research world-wide. Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness. It is estimated that over 2.2 million Americans have glaucoma, but only half of those know they have it.
Commenting on National Glaucoma Awareness Month and the month-long addition of related animations to the Blausen Group Facebook page, Bruce Blausen, Founder and CEO of Houston-based Blausen, said, "Glaucoma is a stealthy disease that may exhibit no symptoms to warn someone who has it, or is developing it. While there is no cure for it and vision lost cannot be regained, with medication and/or surgery, it is possible to halt further loss of vision. That's why awareness and regular eye examinations are so necessary. We believe we are doing our small part to further the awareness part of that by featuring our glaucoma animations on our Facebook page."

Houston, December 1, 2011 --- In recognition and support of the World AIDS Campaign and December 1 World AIDS Day, Blausen Medical Communications, developer and owner of the world’s largest library of medical animations, will feature a 3D video animation explaining AIDS on its Blausen Group Facebook page during December. The animation, one of over 300 in the Blausen library, explains how AIDS develops within and affects the body’s immune system.
The World AIDS Campaign goal is to insure that governments and policy makers meet the HIV targets they set, the commitments they make, and mobilize the necessary resources for a world where people do not die of AIDS and other opportunistic infections. The Campaign collaborates with a diverse range of communities, organizations and most affected populations, including, but not limited to people living with HIV, sex workers, homosexuals, drug users, and others. Presently, over 33 million are living with AIDS worldwide, 1.1 million of them in the United States.
The United States supports a wide range of activities-from research and development to technical assistance and financial support to other nations-to combat the global HIV/AIDS pandemic, including President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief PEPFAR and other U.S. government global HIV/AIDS activities .
Bruce Blausen, Founder and CEO of Houston-based Blausen, said, “According to the prestigious Kaiser Family Foundation, someone in the world dies from AIDS/HIV every 9 ½ minutes. Although overwhelmingly concentrated in geographies outside the United States, it is terrible disease and one for which appropriately strong prevention and treatment efforts are being undertaken. Given our Company’s mission to alleviate fears and concerns of patients worldwide, we felt that sharing our AIDS animation this December was very appropriate.”
